Models

Think of an AI model as a specialized assistant with different strengths. Just like you might choose between different tools for different tasks, you can select different AI models based on what you need:

• Speed: How quickly you need a response
• Intelligence: How complex or nuanced your task is
• Specialization: Whether you need specific capabilities (like handling large documents or mathematical calculations)

Note: Changing models is only available to Plus, Pro, and Enterprise users. Free users have access to GPT OSS model only.

The number and variety of models available depends on your subscription plan. Free users have access to GPT OSS, while Plus and Pro users can access more advanced models with different capabilities and specializations. Model Capabilities

Each model has different strengths indicated by:

• Intelligence: The model’s ability to handle complex reasoning and nuanced tasks
• Speed: How quickly the model generates responses
• Provider: The company that created the model (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI)
• Thinking: Whether the model shows its reasoning process

When in doubt, use Auto Mode (Pro users) or start with a faster model and switch to a more intelligent one if needed.

Auto Mode

Auto Mode is Anara’s intelligent model selection feature that automatically chooses the best model based on your current task.

When you select Auto Mode, Anara considers:

• The complexity of your query
• Whether you’re working with files or folders
• The type of task (analysis, writing, math, coding)
• Response time requirements

This takes the guesswork out of model selection and ensures you get optimal results without having to manually switch between models.

Supported Models

GPT OSS

OpenAI’s lightweight model designed for quick responses and simple queries. While it handles basic questions well, it’s best suited for straightforward tasks rather than complex analysis or lengthy documents.

GPT 5

OpenAI’s latest release but not recommended due to ongoing speed issues.

GPT 4.1

A versatile model that strikes an excellent balance between intelligence and speed. It handles most tasks competently, from analyzing research papers to creative writing, making it a reliable all-purpose choice.

o3

OpenAI’s model specifically optimized for mathematical calculations, coding, and technical problem-solving. It excels at step-by-step reasoning and is ideal for STEM subjects, programming tasks, and complex analytical work.

Gemini 2.5 Flash

Google’s efficient model that combines speed with broad capabilities across various tasks. It’s an excellent default choice for Plus users, offering reliable performance for everyday research and general questions.

Gemini 2.5 Pro

Google’s powerful model optimized for processing extensive documents and complex folder structures. It particularly shines with mathematical reasoning and large-scale information synthesis, making it ideal for comprehensive research projects.

Claude 4.5 Haiku

Anthropic’s speed-optimized model designed for rapid responses to simple queries. While it’s one of the fastest models available, it’s not recommended for file analysis or document processing—use it when speed is your top priority.

Grok 4 Fast

xAI’s well-balanced model that delivers consistent performance across diverse use cases. It provides a sweet spot between speed and capability, making it suitable for users who want reliable results without switching between specialized models.

Switching Models

To change your model:

1. Click the model selector dropdown in the top toolbar
2. Browse available models with their descriptions
3. Select your desired model
4. The change applies immediately to your next query

Your model selection persists across sessions until you change it again.
